Comox Valley Children's Choir

...for the love of singing

About Us

The Comox Valley Children’s Choir is part of the Nova Voce Choral Society founded in 1996.  Our mission is to develop the experience and love of excellent artistic singing, integrating mind, bodies and spirit. Our music education activities exist to foster personal and artistic development by providing choristers with:

- Superior vocal instruction and leadership for a high level of artistry, musical understanding and self-expression.

 - opportunities for active participation to produce, practise and perform standard choral repertoire of all styles and historic periods in a positive and supportive learning environment.

Musical Nuts & Bolts

Choir rehearsals are held Thursdays at Mark Isfeld Secondary.  Children participating in the younger choir (6-10 years of age, 5 year old kindergarten singers admitted at Director's discretion) do not have to audition and are welcome whatever their musical background.  This is an hour-and-a-bit rehearsal that includes lots of movement, games, the beginnings of vocal pedagogy and some great repertoire. The choir usually performs at least three times at various community venues and functions.

This fall, a second, auditioned choir for singers 11-14 years of age will be offered.  Children auditioning should be able to match pitch and have basic music-reading skills.  Strong, but focused energy welcome!  This choir will perform some repertoire in common with the younger choir, but also work on more technically demanding music.

Choir tuition is $185 or $115 with parent volunteer time for the term.  Term 1 runs September to December; Term 2, January to April. Both terms include roughly 12 rehearsals and 3 performances.  Those singers wishing to register for both terms (and gladden the heart of the Director!) will receive a 10% discount.

Questions, queries are also welcome - feel free to contact us and check here for more detailed information regarding times and start-up dates.

Remember: you can sing anywhere but it's more fun in a choir!
